The 18th edition of International Indian film academy awards ended on a high with Udta Punjab winning four awards on Saturday blockbuster night. Neerja and Ae Dil Hai Mushkil also won three awards each.
Around 40,000 fans cheered for their favorite Bollywood stars as they walked the IIFA Green carpet ahead of the awards ceremony at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. The host of the evening, Karan Johar and Saif Ali Khan kept the audience in splits with great talks and humorous way of talk. Katrina Kaif gave the tremendous performance on the stage. Salman Khan danced away to songs from Tubelight.
Alia Bhatt’s debut in IIFA saw her performing to medley of hit songs from her blockbuster movies.
Alia Bhatt and Shahid Kapoor won the best actor award for their film Udta Punjab. The best director award went to Aniruddha Roy Chaudhari for Pink. Neerja won the award for best film. Tapsee Pannu won the women of the year award for Pink.
The best performance in negative role title went to Jim Sarbh for Neerja. Best music award went to Ae Dil Hai Mushkil. Pritam took the award for best music director. The best playback singer award was taken by Amit Mishra. Tulsi Kumar and Kanika Kapoor took the award for playback signing (female).
Shabani Azmi’s performance in Neerja and Anupam Kher’s work in MS Dhoni-the untold story earned them the best supporting actor awards.
Apart from awards, IIFA Stage was thoroughly enthusiastic with Bollywood star’s outstanding performance. Salman Khan, Katrina Kaif, Shahid Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, Kriti Sanon and Sushant Singh Rajput gave outstanding performance on the stage.
